London Congestion Charges

A knightmare for some and a massive blessing for others, the London Congestion Charges are a real bone of contention.

The main purpose of the charges are to reduce the ammount of traffic on the roads in the Capital, therefore reducing wear and tear on the roads aswell as well as therfore reducing air pollution, which, in turn, reduces the amount of cleaning required on the buildings themselves.

The savings from the reduced cleaning costs are quickly swallowed up by the charges for the employees of any business in London centre. Most businesses will compensate their employees who have to regularly enter the congestion zone. This could be on a receipt by receipt basis, or by a general wage increase to allow for the additional charges incurred.

Some of the main problems will be for businesses such as companies regularly requiring deliveries, taxis, London driving schools, even companies such as estate agents who may need to regularly travel to and fro to properties in the centre.
